  • Anacrusis war eine Progressive-/Thrash Metal-Band aus St. Louis, die 1986 gegründet wurde und sich 1993 auflöste. Ihre Alben Manic Impressions und Screams and Whispers gelten heute als Klassiker des Progressive Thrash Metal. Schlagzeuger Chad Smith war nach seinem Ausstieg bei Anacrusis noch bei G//Z/R tätig, der Band des Black-Sabbath-Bassisten Geezer Butler. Aufgrund der Namensgleichheit wird er zum Teil mit Chad Smith von den Red Hot Chili Peppers verwechselt. Kenn Nardi zog sich ganz von der Musik zurück, bis er sich 2006 mit seinem Soloprojekt Cruel April zurückmeldete. Kevin Heidbreder und John Emery spielten nach der Auflösung in lokalen Cover-Bands. 2009 gab die Band bekannt, dass sich die Originalbesetzung mit Kenn Nardi, Kevin Heidbreder, John Emery und Mike Owen wieder zusammen gefunden hat, um 2010 beim Keep it true XIII Festival in Deutschland aufzutreten. Bei entsprechenden Anfragen würde die Band auch gerne weitere Festivals oder Headliner-Shows in Deutschland und West-Europa im Jahr 2010 spielen. Danach soll die Band jedoch wieder aufgelöst werden. Ebenfalls in 2009 wurde von Stormspell Records die CD/DVD "Annihilation Complete" veröffentlicht. Auf dieser befindet sich Anacrusis´ 1987 Demo "Annihilation Complete", sowie weitere Demo-Songs, Proberaum-Aufnahmen und frühes Live-Material. Auf ihrer Homepage stellt die Band alle Anacrusis Alben und Demos, sowie Ken Nardi's Soloprojekt Cruel April im MP3-Format und Videos zum freien Download zur Verfügung.
