Alfred Serge Balachowsky was a French entomologist born in Russia. He specialised in Homoptera : Coccoidea but also worked on Coleoptera. Balachowsky worked at the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle. In 1948 he was elected president of the Société entomologique de France.

  • Alfred Serge Balachowsky (1901-1983) fut un entomologiste français, qui occupa les chaires suivantes au Museum national d'histoire naturelle : Entomologie, de 1962 à 1963. Cette chaire fut alors renommée Entomologie générale et appliquée. Entomologie générale et appliquée, de 1963 à 1974. Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il fit partie, sous le pseudo « Serge », d'un groupe de résistance rattaché au réseau Prosper-PHYSICIAN du service secret britannique Special Operations Executive. Il fut arrêté et déporté en Allemagne, et fut délivré à la fin de la guerre.
