Dame Alexandra Vivien "Sandra" Burslem DBE, JP, DL, FRSA (b. 1940) is a British academic and educationalist. Born in Shanghai, China, she returned to England shortly afterwards and attended the Arnold High School for Girls in Blackpool and the University of Manchester, where, as a mature student, she took a first in Politics and Modern History. Her academic career culminated in September 1997,when she was named as Vice-Chancellor of Manchester Metropolitan University. She remained until 2005.
