Alexander Asher (1835–1905) was a Scottish politician. Educated at Edinburgh University, he was admitted to the Faculty of Advocates in 1861 and was appointed an Advocate Depute in 1870. Liberal Member of Parliament for Elgin Burghs from 1881 to 1905, he was appointed Solicitor General for Scotland from 1881 to 1885, in 1886 and from 1892 to 1894. He was awarded honorary degrees of LLD by Aberdeen University in 1883 and Edinburgh in 1891.
