Meneses studied acting at Chicago's The Second City Improvisational Theater during summer vacations. Immediately upon graduation from high school, she got a modeling contract in Milan, Italy.

Originally she was to stay in Italy for only 3 months, but fell in love with Italy and stayed there for 2 years where she became a successful model. When Alex came back to the USA, she headed to Los Angeles, where she studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute. Meneses portrayed Teresa Morales in Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, and has had significant recurring roles on Everybody Loves Raymond as Robert's Italian lover Stefania, and The Hughleys. She has also appeared in Martial Law as Alex Delgado in the episode Lock Up and the films Amanda and the Alien, Selena, The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas, Auto Focus and Funny Money. Alex has also appeared in numerous L.A. stage productions. Meneses is currently starring in the upcoming made for TV movie Fire from Below due for release in 2008.

C'est en voyant l'actrice latine Rita Moreno dans West Side Story qu'Alex décide de poursuivre une carrière d'actrice. Alex représente Teresa Morales dans Docteur Quinn, femme médecin et a eu des rôles récurrents dans la série télévisée Tout le monde aime Raymond précisément dans le rôle de Stephania l'amante italienne de Robert Barone ou encore dans la série The Hughleys. Elle apparait comme Alex Delgado dans Le Flic de Shanghaï (Saison 1, épisode 11 "Derrière les barreaux").
