  • Alexander Antonitsch ist ein ehemaliger österreichischer Tennisspieler. Bereits im Alter von 16 Jahren entschloss sich Antonitsch, eine Profikarriere im Tennis einzuschlagen. Neben den etwa gleichaltrigen Thomas Muster und Horst Skoff war er in den 80er und 90er Jahren einer von drei erfolgreichen österreichischen Teilnehmern der ATP-Tour. Hier erreichte er einen Turniersieg im Einzel (Seoul 1990) sowie fünf Siege im Doppel (Köln 1986, Basel 1987, Wien 1988, Seoul 1991, Newport 1995). Als bis dahin erster Österreicher erreichte er 1990 das Achtelfinale in Wimbledon. Für das österreichische Davis Cup-Team trat er zwischen 1983 und 1996 27 Mal an, als größten Erfolg erreichte die Mannschaft 1990 das Halbfinale, wo man in Wien gegen den späteren Daviscup-Sieger USA ausschied. Ab Anfang der 90er Jahre musste Antonitsch mehrfach durch Verletzungen bedingte Pausen einlegen, und beendete seine aktive Karriere schließlich im Oktober 1996. Seither setzt sich Antonitsch für die Nachwuchsförderung ein, unter anderem begründete er in Wien die Schulsportaktion „Tennis4Kids“. In Annenheim am Ossiacher See betreibt er das „Tenniscenter Antonitsch“. Zudem betätigt er sich als Co-Kommentator im österreichischen Fernsehen und tritt gelegentlich in Schaukämpfen an. Alexander Antonitsch ist verheiratet und hat zwei Kinder, er lebt mit seiner Familie in Gaaden bei Wien.
