According to the 2006 Australian census 2,014 Australians were born in Albania while 11,315 claimed Albanian ancestry, either alone or with another ancestry. Albanians began to settle in Australia from the early 1920s settling in Northern Queensland, Western Australia and Shepparton in Victoria. This ended with the commencement of World War 2.
