- Alan Mair is a musician and producer. He is best known as the bassist from The Only Ones. He co-produced the first two albums The Only Ones and Even Serpents Shine and wrote and sang "My Way Out Of Here" from the 3rd and final Only Ones album Baby's Got a Gun. Prior to The Only Ones, in the mid-1960s, Mair played bass with Glasgow band The Beatstalkers, who, under the management of Joe Gaffney, became Scotland's "top group", at the time giving them the tag in the local press as "The Scottish Beatles". Their fame however was restricted mainly to Scotland, and with no resultant marked commercial record success the band split... Mair eventually moved to London where he began making leather clothes and then hand made boots, which lead to him opening a shop at Kensington Market in the early 1970s selling hand made boots. After a short time he employed Freddie Mercury, [later of the rock band Queen], as his shop manager who worked there from 1971 until 1974 He currently lives in London and recently was the driving force in reforming 'The Only Ones' who performed to a sell out show at Shepherds Bush Empire show. This was followed by shows at the O2 Wireless Festival in Hyde Park, and the first ever Connect Festival in Inverary, Scotland. In 2009 they extending their touring to take in Holland, Japan, Hultsfred Festival in Sweden. More dates are continually being added. Now in 2010 The Only Ones are recording a new album which is planned for release in 2011.
