Sheikh Ahmed Hussein Deedat (July 1, 1918–August 8, 2005) was a Muslim scholar, writer, charismatic public speaker and Islamic missionary of Indian-South African descent. He was best known for his numerous inter-religious public debates with evangelical Christians, as well as pioneering video lectures most of which centered around Islam, Christianity and the Bible.

- Sheikh Ahmed Hussein Deedat (July 1, 1918–August 8, 2005) was a Muslim scholar, writer, charismatic public speaker and Islamic missionary of Indian-South African descent. He was best known for his numerous inter-religious public debates with evangelical Christians, as well as pioneering video lectures most of which centered around Islam, Christianity and the Bible. He also established the IPCI, an internationally renown Islamic missionary organization under whose auspices Deedat wrote and mass produced several booklets on Islam and Christianity. He was awarded the prestigious King Faisal Award in 1986 for his 50 years of missionary work. Deedat aimed at providing Muslims with theological tools for defending themselves against the intense missionary strivings of many Christian denominations. He used English to get his message across to Muslims and the non-Muslims in the western world.

Le style incisif, parfois comique, d'Ahmed Deedat suscita l'intérêt de ses auditoires, car il voulait ses interventions plaisantes. Cependant, plusieurs de ses textes ont été interdits en France, notamment pour incitation à la haine raciale. Ahmed Deedat forma également le prédicateur Zakir Naik.

Hij gaf wereldwijd lezingen en was bekend vanwege zijn debatten die hij heeft gehouden met geleerden van andere religies. Ahmed Deedat heeft grotendeels door zelfstudie zowel de Koran als de Bijbel uit zijn hoofd geleerd. Tijdens zijn debatten citeerde hij regelmatig uit beide heilige boeken. Hij was de oprichter van het Islamic Propagation Centre International, een oorspronkelijk Zuid-Afrikaanse organisatie die zich bezighoudt met het verspreiden van informatie over de islam. De Nederlandse tak van IPCI is het Islamitisch Propagerend Dialoog Centrum. Op 3 mei 1996 heeft Ahmed Deedat een beroerte gekregen. Na zijn beroerte was hij grotendeels verlamd en moest hij leren om via oogbewegingen te communiceren. De laatste negen jaar van zijn leven bracht hij in zijn bed in Verulam Zuid-Afrika door. Tijdens deze jaren werd regelmatig het gerucht verspreid dat hij zou zijn overleden. Uiteindelijk is hij op 8 augustus 2005 overleden aan de gevolgen van zijn langdurige ziekte.
