Adam Thirlwell (born 1978) is a British novelist. He was educated at Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School, Elstree. He is assistant editor of Areté, an arts tri-quarterly. He also writes a column for Esquire magazine. As an undergraduate (reading English) at New College, Oxford, he won several essay prizes and excelled in his final-year exams. He was subsequently elected Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford.

In 2007 Thirlwell published a second book, Miss Herbert. A work of non-fiction, it came in for some heavy criticism, notably by Adam Mars-Jones in The Observer and Tom Deveson in The Times.
