The Rev'd and Hon. Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. (November 29, 1908 – April 4, 1972) was an American politician and pastor who represented the Harlem section of Manhattan in New York City in the United States House of Representatives between 1945 and 1971. He was the first African-American elected to Congress from New York. He became chairman of the Education and Labor Committee in 1961.

In 2002, scholar Molefi Kete Asante listed Adam Clayton Powell Jr. on his list of 100 Greatest African Americans.
