On 8 January 2008, Choi married Chinese actor John YeMax Zhang Jin, whom she had dated for four and a half years. He was her co-star in a number of Zhouyi Media television productions including Paradise and Eight Charts. In interviews, Choi describes herself as a devout Protestant Christian.
