- A Raisin in the Sun ist ein Theaterstück der US-amerikanischen Dramatikerin Lorraine Hansberry. Es erzählt von einer afroamerikanischen Arbeiterfamilie, die im Ghetto Chicagos lebt und unter Armut und Rassismus zu leiden hat. Der Titel des Stücks ist dem dritten Vers des Gedichtes Harlem von Langston Hughes entlehnt. Bei seiner Uraufführung im Jahre 1959 war A Raisin in the Sun das erste Stück einer afroamerikanischen Autorin am Broadway. 1960 wurde das Theaterstück von Regisseur Daniel Petrie mit Sidney Poitier verfilmt. In Deutschland wurde der Film unter dem Titel Ein Fleck in der Sonne veröffentlicht. (de)

The story tells of a black family's experiences in south Chicago, as they attempt to improve their financial circumstances with an insurance payout following the death of the father, and deals with matters of housing discrimination, racism, and assimilation. The New York Drama Critics' Circle named it the best play of 1959, and in recent years publications such as The Independent and Time Out have listed it among the best plays ever written. (en)

Dans une adaptation d'Emmanuel Roblès et une mise en scène de Guy Lauzin, elle a été créée en France le 13 septembre 1960, à la Comédie-Caumartin (Paris), avec notamment Georges Aminel, Toto Bissainthe, Darling Legitimus, Bachir Touré Le titre est inspiré d’un poème de Langston Hughes, Harlem. En racontant l’histoire d’une famille afro-américaine vivant pauvrement à Chicago et qui se questionne sur la bonne utilisation d’un chèque de 10 000 dollars, Lorraine Hansberry évoque un épisode de son enfance. En effet, en 1940, son père, Carl Hansberry, courtier immobilier à succès, gagne le droit devant la Cour suprême des États-Unis d’acquérir une maison dans un quartier blanc de Chicago. L’affaire, qui fait grand bruit, est connue dans la jurisprudence civile américaine sous le nom de (en). (fr)
