A (stylized as 'A') is a privately-owned English language television system in Canada. Owned by CTVglobemedia, the system currently consists of four over-the-air owned-and-operated television stations (O&Os) in Ontario and one in British Columbia, as well as a regional cable-only channel in Atlantic Canada. In addition, certain A programs are carried on two other CTV-owned channels: Access, an educational channel in Alberta; and CKX-TV, the CBC Television affiliate in Brandon, Manitoba.

Access and CKX-TV are considered secondary carriers of the A television system, not O&Os. The A television system provides complementary programming to CTVglobemedia's larger CTV network – primarily newer or younger-skewing series which have smaller audiences than those on the mainline CTV network. As well, the A television stations in Victoria and Southern Ontario provide local newscasts for secondary markets that CTV proper does not. Although the A system currently has higher ratings than Canada's other second-tier terrestrial systems such as Citytv and E!, CTVglobemedia says that the A stations have been and continue to be unprofitable, and that these issues have been exacerbated by the recent global economic crisis. Accordingly, the company announced cost-cutting measures at the A stations in March 2009, including the cancellation of certain local newscasts. CTV further announced in July 2009 its intentions to close the A station in Wingham, Ontario and convert it into a rebroadcaster of London station CFPL-TV, and to sell CKX-TV to Bluepoint Investment Corporation. Previous plans also involved the sale or closure of Windsor's A station, although CTVglobemedia has indicated that the station will remain on air until at least August 2010.
