A. P. Nagarajan is a veteran Tamil film director, who set a trend in film making in Tamil cinema in 1960s. He started his film career as a dialogue writer for Nalvar (1953), in which he also acted. He founded a production with actor V.K. Ramasamy and made Nalla Idathu Sambandham in 1958. When he started directing, his first few films were based on contemporary themes like the one on a boy guide working in Mahabalipuram (Vaa Raja Vaa).
