Allan James "A. J. " Burnett (born January 3, 1977, in North Little Rock, Arkansas) is a right-handed Major League Baseball starting pitcher for the New York Yankees. Previously, he played for the Florida Marlins and the Toronto Blue Jays. He was drafted by New York Mets in the eighth round with the 217th overall pick of 1995 amateur entry draft. On May 12, 2001, Burnett recorded a no-hitter in a complete game shutout against the San Diego Padres in his second start of the season.

De regreso en junio de 2004 iniciando 19 partidos y terminando con 7 ganados y 6 perdidos con efectividad de 3,68. Al terminar la temporada 2005 Burnett se convierte en agente libre y deja a los Marlins,en la temporada muerta firma un contrato de 28.6 por 3 años con los Toronto Blue Jays. Actualmente es uno de los jugadores que crea mayores expectativas en el mercado de jugadores al final de la temporada. En la temporada muerta de 2009 firma un nuevo contrato pero esta vez con lo Yankees de New York,equipo que lidera la división este de la Liga Americana. Burnett lanza diferentes tipos de bola rápida y también una curva de nudillos. Su bola rápida generalmente viaja a 100 mph por lo que resulta ser uno de los abridores más difíciles para batearle. Burnett toca música con una banda llamada los Mad Ink junto con su compañero de equipo Tim Spooneybarger (en recuperación luego de una cirugía similar a la de Burnett). En nombre del grupo fue escogido debido a los múltiples tatuajes de Burnett y de Spooneybarger.
