Stewart and members of Fahey's new backing band, #3 was produced by Fahey, Stewart, Hormonally Yours-producer Alan Moulder, Andy Wright and Flood throughout 1995, 1996 and 1997. The musical style of #3 ventured away from the polished pop of Sacred Heart and Hormonally Yours and featured a more lo-fi and rock music feel. The album's initial single, the Beatlesque "I Can Drive", charted at number thirty on the UK singles chart and was considered a disappointment by London Records, who chose to shelve the project. Fahey, who eventually went on to record music under her own name, spent years attempting to retrieve the ownership rights of #3. In 2003, the label relented and Fahey independently distributed the record through her website the following year.
