Several significant events in spaceflight have occurred, or are planned for 2009. On 2 February Iran conducted its first successful orbital launch, and the Russo-South Korean Naro-1 rocket made its maiden flight on 25 August, marking South Korea's first involvement in conducting a satellite launch, however it failed to reach orbit. The first Chinese planetary probe, Yinghuo-1, is scheduled for launch, along with Russia's Fobos-Grunt sample return mission in October.

- Several significant events in spaceflight have occurred, or are planned for 2009. Several rockets are scheduled to conduct maiden flights, whilst the Tsyklon-3 was retired from service.
- Vuoden 2009 miehittämättömät avaruuslennot koostunee noin sadan satelliitin laukaisusta, alkuvuonna tehtiin 30 kantoraketin laukaisua.
