In its tenth season under head coach Don James, the team compiled an 11–1 record, was ranked #2 in the final Coaches and AP polls, and outscored its opponents by a combined total of 352 to 145. Ron Holmes was selected as the team's most valuable player. Dan Eernissee, Danny Greene, Tim Meamber, Jim Rogers were the team captains.
