The Osprey class are a series of coastal minehunters designed to find, classify, and destroy moored and bottom naval mines from vital waterways. They use sonar and video systems, cable cutters and a mine detonating device that can be released and detonated by remote control. The Osprey class are the world's second largest minehunters (surpassed by the Royal Navy's 60-meter (200 ft) Hunt-class mine countermeasures vessels) to be constructed entirely of fiberglass and designed to survive the shock of underwater explosions. Their primary mission is reconnaissance, classification, and neutralization of all types of moored and bottom mines in littoral areas, harbors and coastal waterways.

| - Třída Osprey je třída pobřežních minolovek postavených pro námořnictvo Spojených států amerických. Miny hledají sonarem a likvidují pomocí dálkově řízených podvodních prostředků. Samotné minolovky mají nízkou akustickou a magnetickou stopu (trup je z nemagnetického materiálu). V letech 1993–1999 bylo do služby zařazeno celkem 12 jednotek této třídy. Americké námořnictvo je v letech 2006–2007 vyřadilo a část jich odprodalo do zahraničí. Zahraničními uživateli jsou Řecko, Egypt a Čínská republika. V jejich roli je mají nahradit plavidla nové kategorie Littoral Combat Ship. (cs)

- Die Osprey-Klasse war ein Klasse von zwölf Minenjagdbooten der United States Navy, deren Aufgabe es war, alle Arten von Seeminen aufzuspüren, zu klassifizieren und unschädlich zu machen. Dazu verfügt diese Klasse über das Minenabwehrsystem AN/SLQ-48 und verschiedene Unterwasserortungsanlagen (Sonar- und Videosensoren). Nach den aktuellen Planungen wird die US-Marine keine neuen Minenjagdboote in Auftrag geben. Die Aufgaben dieser Kriegsschiffklasse sollen in Zukunft von den neuen Littoral Combat Ships übernommen werden. (de)
