Henk Buck (born Dordrecht, 1930) is an organic chemist. He studied at the University of Leiden where he received his PhD in 1959. He got a lectorship at the University in Theoretical Organic Chemistry in 1964. For his research he received the Golden Medal of the Royal Netherlands Chemical Society in 1967. In 1970 he was appointed as professor of Physical Organic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry at the University of Technology in Eindhoven. Because there was no Chair for Theoretical Chemistry and Biochemistry he gave lectures in organic chemistry, physical organic chemistry, theoretical organic chemistry, biochemistry and biotechnology. From 1988-1991 he was Dean of the Chemical Faculty. For his scientific contributions he became a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences

  • Hendricus Maria (Henk) Buck (Dordrecht, 1930) is een Nederlandse scheikundige. Hij was tot 1991 hoogleraar Organische Scheikunde aan de Technische Universiteit Eindhoven. Hij gaf college in de organische chemie, de technische chemie, de theoretische chemie, de biochemie en de biotechnologie. In deze gebieden deed hij ook zijn wetenschappelijk onderzoek. Op 34-jarige leeftijd werd hij lector in de theoretische organische chemie te Leiden alwaar hij ook promoveerde op reactiviteit en spectroscopie van carbenium ionen en de toepassing van elektronspinresonantie op modelsystemen voor halfgeleiders. Enkele jaren later kreeg hij voor zijn onderzoek de Gouden KNCV medaille. In 1979 werd hij lid van de KNAW. Van Henk Buck werd verwacht dat hij ooit wel eens een Nobelprijs zou winnen. De TU Eindhov
