Sna 6ú agus 7ú haoiseanna, bhí Dál Araí rannpháirteach mar phríomhchlann i gcónaidhm na gCruithne. Tugtar an teideal rí Dhál Araí d'Aodh sna hannála, cé gurbh é rí Cruithne an gnáth-theideal le linn an ama sin. (ga)

Feictear tásc Aodha sna hannála don bhliain 698, i g ag Fernmag (Fearnaigh, Contae Mhuineacháin), i dteannta le Conchúr Mhacha mac Maoil Dúin (Conchobar Macha mac Máele Dúin), rí Oirthear (Seán Oiriall as Contae Ard Mhacha). Míniú amháin atá ar an scéal ná gur chomhghuaillithe ba ea iad in éadan clann (dream Oiriall eile as oirthear Chontae Fhear Manach agus tuaisceart Chontae Mhuineacháind); é sin nó gur namhaid Aodha é Conchúr agus gur mharaigh siad a chéile i mbun chatha. Mar chuid, moltar go raibh Aodh ag iarraidh neamhspleáchas eaglasta Ard Mhacha a chosaint in aghaidh (ga)

The annals record his death at the Battle of Telach Garraisc in Fernmag (Farney, County Monaghan) along with Conchobar Macha mac Máele Dúin, King of the Airthir (an Airgialla tribe of modern County Armagh) in 698. One explanation of the battle is that they were allies fighting against the Uí Cremthainn (another Airgialla tribe of eastern County Fermanagh and northern County Monaghan) Another is that Conchobar was his enemy and they slew each other in battle. The motivation may have been to protect the ecclesiastical independence of Armagh from the Cenél nEógan (en)
Armagh). Prawdopodobnie byli oni sprzymierzeńcami walczącymi przeciw Uí Cremthainn (inne plemię Airgialla na wschodzie hr. Fermanagh i północy hr. Monaghan). (pl)
