The Forêt de Mormal (Forest of Mormal) is a forest in France, near the Franco-Belgian border. It is best known to the British for its role in the retreat from Mons in August 1914. Its perceived lack of passable roads forced I and II Corps of the British army to divide and the two corps did not reunite for some days. However, some units of the British army did pass through the forest. The German army also passed through the forest, taking Haig's II Corps by surprise.

- Het Bos van Mormal (Frans:Forêt (domaniale) de Mormal) is een staatsbos en natuurgebied in het Franse Noorderdepartement in het Regionaal natuurpark van de Avesnois. Het loofbos is 91,63 vierkante kilometer groot en is daarmee het grootste bos van het Noorderdepartement. Het Bos van Mormal wordt beheerd door de Franse overheidsdienst Office National des Forêts. Een deel van het bos van Mormal is Europees beschermd als Natura 2000-gebied (habitatrichtlijngebied FR 3100509). (nl)

Les arbres y sont tous relativement jeunes, car la forêt a été presque entièrement coupée lors de la Première Guerre mondiale et à nouveau surexploitée lors de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Ce massif est pour le Nord de la France un élément essentiel du réseau Natura 2000, du réseau écologique paneuropéen et de la Trame verte régionale. (fr)
