Dolley Madison said of her, \"as a friend I find Mrs. Judith Brockenbrough unequalled. \" In later years, her husband was a judge on the Virginia Court of Appeals, and the family was close to Chief Justice John Marshall, who resided near them in Richmond, Virginia. Her son, Judge John White Brockenbrough, was one of the principal proponents of Robert E. Lee becoming president of Washington College."@en ;
