Estas reflex\u00F5es foram inicialmente proferidas por Husserl, em alem\u00E3o, numa s\u00E9rie de confer\u00EAncias realizadas no Anfiteatro Descartes da Sorbonne, entre 23 e 25 de fevereiro de 1929. Nos dois anos seguintes, ele e o seu assistente, Eugene Fink, expandiram e melhoraram o texto dessas li\u00E7\u00F5es, o qual veio depois a ser publicado em livro, em l\u00EDngua francesa, com o mesmo t\u00EDtulo, em1931. O t\u00EDtulo Medita\u00E7\u00F5es Cartesianas deriva t\u00E3o s\u00F3 do fato de se centrar em refer\u00EAncias a Descartes e de terem sido proferidas naquele contexto em Paris. Edmund Husserl, nunca publicou As Medita\u00E7\u00F5es Cartesianas em l\u00EDngua alem\u00E3. Este fato tem levado alguns comentadores a especular que Husserl n\u00E3o tinha ficado satisfeito com o trabalho, provavelmente relacionado com a introdu\u00E7\u00E3o \u00E0 Fenomenologia Transcendental ter ficado aqu\u00E9m dos seus objetivos. Para al\u00E9m disso, a colabora\u00E7\u00E3o de Fink , com a sua prolixidade e devaneio especulativo, n\u00E3o ter\u00E1 sido alheia a esse fato. The Cartesian Meditations were never published in German during Husserl's lifetime, a fact which has led some commentators to conclude that Husserl had become dissatisfied with the work in relation to its aim, namely an introduction to transcendental phenomenology.
